About
Gila (/GHEE-la/) Brown, MA, LMFT — Depth-Oriented Adult Psychotherapist

Why I Do This Work
I began my professional life as a teacher. After nearly a decade in education, I became increasingly interested in the deeper forces shaping my students’ lives — specifically the impact of early relationships and family dynamics. In 2011, I returned to graduate school to train as a psychotherapist.
My work is depth-oriented and relational. I am especially interested in how early attachment patterns, family systems, and unspoken dynamics shape adult identity, self-worth, and relationships. Many of the individuals I work with are high-functioning and capable on the surface, yet privately navigating shame, self-doubt, or complex relational histories.

In our work together, I bring steady empathy, careful analysis, and a direct but compassionate style. Therapy, at its best, is a space to examine long-standing patterns with clarity and rigor — not to assign blame, but to understand and shift what no longer serves you.

I consider it a privilege to do this work.
